Registration of trademark in Denmark

Trademark registration in Denmark allows its use in the territory of this state. There are options for carrying out procedure through the local patent office or according to the Madrid Protocol.

All trademarks in Denmark should be attached only to one of the forms of incorporation: public or private joint-stock company, and minimum number of contributors is one person. The form of partnership is possible very rarely. Trademarks registered in Denmark are also recognized in Greenland and on the Faroe Islands.

Algorithm for submission of documents

When registering a brand name in Denmark through the national department, the documents are filed with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office. The indicated registration authority recognizes the system of the ICGS. In this case, one application covers up to three types of activities. If you need more types, additional fee is added. The standard period for verifying the brand is 5 days. The package of documents includes the following:

  • Application with data on natural or legal person, as well as copies of identification documents.

  • 15 copies of the trademark image.

  • Document confirming payment of the fee in Danish kroner.

  • List of all necessary activities in accordance with the ICGS.

The duration of the entire procedure ranges from 6 to 12 months. When submitting international application through WIPO, there is also additional fee for each class above the third one. The foregoing option is more convenient and cost-efficient, if you are going to make applications to several countries at once. The issued certificate is valid for 10 years, and if necessary, it can be renewed unlimited number of times.
